Rolling Walker and Wheelchair All-In-One
This certainly isn’t a post about scooters, but I thought this was a very interesting product. It is called the Duet Transport Chair and Rollator by Drive Medical; a transport wheelchair and a rolling walker rolled up into a single product. See for yourself in the photo to the right and below.
I’ve never seen anything like this and to be honest I never even imagined a product quite like this. I know for a fact that standard rolling walkers are not designed to be used in this manner, which is why I’m so excited to see a transport chair and a walker in one. I’ve heard of people trying to use their walkers like this and it only makes me worry because until now those products were not designed to be used as a wheelchair, rather some provided a seat just to sit and rest on. Having said that, I can assure you this product has been designed to be used as both and is perfectly safe.
The hand brakes are great for walkers and when used as a transport chair offer the caregiver an easy way to stop chair. It supports up to 300 lbs. and only weighs 19 lbs. When used as a transport chair it does only have a 12″ seat depth, so it should be used as a convenience rather than for permanent wheelchair use, but none the less, it certainly gets the job done in any short-term situation you may have. Due to the double use, this would be a great item to have around especially for a caregiver or anyone entertaining a guest in need of such assistance. Price at $209, it seems like a great deal. Oh, and the carry pouch is included!
